Spectrum Server

The Spectrum Server is the heart of the suite. This software is responsible for generating pictures of the spectrum. It controls a spectrum analyzer and a coaxial input selector. It can sequentially sample different inputs, frequency ranges, and filters.

The system has already been qualified for use with the HP ESA series of spectrum analyzers. Other spectrum analyzers may be compatible.

The system has already been qualified for connection using a E2050A HPIB LAN Bridge. This is a HPIB/TCP bridge. It allows access to a HPIB device over a LAN. Other connection means may be compatible.

The system has already been qualified using a Hiltron coaxial switcher. Other coaxial switchers using an ASCII protocol may be compatible.

The control connection to the coaxial switcher is over a serial communication path. Any sort of local or network serial communication would probably work.

The Spectrum Server displays locally the sampled spectrum. Operationally, the server provides the greatest accesibility and control. Selection of parameters, readout of cursors, and printing of images are easily accessible. In addition, the spectrum images are saved locally to the hard drive continuously.
