DBSubst processes all substituted symbols in the following steps:
- The raw data is fetched from the ODBC data source.
- If the symbol is indirect, the indirection is followed.
- If the data is not empty:
- The data is converted to a human readable format using a formatter.
- Optionally case transformation is applied to upppercase, lowercase or capitalize the text.
- Optionally the spaces and hyphens are replaced with non-breaking spaces and hyphens.
- Optionally line breaks are replaced or deleted.
- Optionally the field is padded to minwidth using align and padchar or truncated with maxwidth.
- An output translator processes the resulting text and does any required quoting and
translation of characters necessary for the desired output format.
- Any prefixes/suffixes are prepended/appended.
- If the string is empty a specified preset value is used.
